CDC Recommends Staying Home From Work When Signs of Swine Flu Hit

You can’t turn on the television right without hearing something about the swine flu pandemic. With 40 confirmed cases, (with many more showing symptoms) there are many people wondering whether they need to alter their plans and stay away from public places.
A trip to the grocery store or work could end up being a costly mistake, if you happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
But when it comes to work, especially in this economy, you have to go. Many workers find themselves making the commute to work, afraid of the ramifications of their actions. Do they test the odds and hope they don’t get sick, in favor of paying their mortgage? Most say yes. You can’t afford to lose your job. And 1/2 of working Americans don’t even have the option to get paid time off for illness which leads to a whole other slew of problems.
Those that work at home however, are quick to point out that there is another option. With a little bit of time and energy, you can create a work from home plan that will allow you to not only make money at home but steer clear of the deadly, pandemic swine flu.
Kimberly Webb owner of GadBaby.com, is a mom of 2 that is able to do what she loves while keeping her family out of harms way.
“We live about a half hour away from one of the major hot spots of the swine flu outbreak, and we are laying low right now. Being able to work from home is such a blessing, because I would have a really hard time taking my kids to daycare or going to work in an office or a call center right now. If something happened to my 7 month old son, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. So we are staying home for a while, and it will be business as usual for me work wise.”
So in a time where we are worried about the economy and pandemic flu outbreaks, maybe it is time to rethink the way that we live our lives. If you have another option, then it only makes sense to explore it further. Your health and well-being could very well depend on it.
